Thankful!

Good day my fellow naturals!! It's been a long while since I've posted anything... I have been so busy with life, I don't get a chance to come on here to write. Hopefully, that will change. I have been working on starting my business, which has to to with baking/catering. I'm so excited about this venture, working on all the legal aspects of getting it up & running. So, keep me in your prayers that everything goes as planned!

As for my natural hair journey, I am still loving it. Currently I'm participating in KinkyCurlyCoilyMe! Castor Oil Challenge, I am loving the results so far, I'm noticing a difference even though it's just the third week! I've been using Jamaican Black Castor Oil, I've been using it in my conditioner when I co-wash, and also used it as a pre-poo. It really made my hair so soft & easier to detangle when it came time to detangle it in the shower. I also massage on my scalp every other day. So far, so good! This challenge ends in December, so I'll keep you posted. See you later.

Peace & Favor!

Great Hair Day!

Good afternoon my fellow naturals!

Hoping everyone is having a fabulous day. Today was a scorcher today, even with the weather so hot & humid, my hairstyle today turned out great.  My day was really uneventful, which is a good thing, I'm so looking forward to this weekend! Hopefully I'll be getting me some crabs, I love the DMV in the summer!

Today I did an up-do, it turned out really cute. So excited that I'm getting better @ styling my hair. :)

Happy Tuesday Afternoon My Fellow Naturals!

Good afternoon! It's been a long time since my last posting and I apologize for it (for the few of you that do check out my blog) much appreciated. The last couple of month have been crazy for me. We just moved this month, so that's been kind of hectic. Also, last week in the midst of moving, I took a fall and landed directly on my knee, nothing broken thank God, but I ended up w/ a contusion on the lower part of my knee. So, I am now wearing a splint for just a week, so I am counting my blessings because I know it could have turned out a lot worse.

Any-who, back to the subject @ hand... HAIR!!! I am truly loving my hair journey. I celebrated my year anniversary since my big chop last June. The bald spot is growing black slowly but surely, my hair is so healthy now too. I dusted my ends last month, which made a great difference in how my hairstyles turned out. Of course I'll be posting some pics of the different styles that I've done over the last two months. I have also been supporting my product junkie habit :) I've purchased so many new items, it's crazy! LOL! Lastly, I finally got around to making my very own Fluffy Whipped Shea Butter mixture for my hair. I purchased some organic unrefined Shea butter from Butters-n-Bars, the oils that I added were Sweet Almond Oil, Castor Oil, Vegetable Glycerin and a little Coconut Oil. I also added some sweet orange essential oil, just to give the butter mixture a favorable scent.

Well, that's all for now, I'll return sometime this week!

Peace & Luv

Twist-out I did using my fluffy whipped Shea Butter

just a little puff I did earlier this month :)

1 yr. anniversary blow out!

This style lasted me a couple of days & I loved it!!

Bright Future

It's been a long while since I've been able to post on here. Gonna get back in the swing of things real soon. I am in the middle of moving. I'm thankful for the many blessings that have come my way the past couple of weeks. The last time I posted on here, I was talking about my bald spot that I noticed, the hair is coming in nicely, so glad it's in spot where my hair can cover it up.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend DMV's National Natural Hair Meet-Up Day! I had an awesome time and met some great people and ALL the speakers were VERY informative. I am truly enjoying my journey with this natural hair, even the lil bald spot, LOL! ;)

I was keeping up with the CG method, but I've been changing it up a bit and I wanted something cute for the NNHMD event that was coming up. what I came up with you all have probably seen in a dozen pictures, but I loved my interpretation of the style. Pics will be posted.

I will definitely be back next week, thanks for coming by to check me out!

Peace & blessings!

this was an updo... my version ;)

Better Days Ahead...

Happy Friday Eve fellow naturals!!

I have been going through a tough time, but I do finally see a glimmer of light ahead. On top of all of that, last week while doing my hair, I noticed that I have a bald spot, thankfully it's a small one, but nonetheless it's a bald spot, and I truly was NOT happy about it. Also very glad that I have a lot of hair on top of my head to hide the little sucker! I have really been stressing, and I usually handle the stress in my life with ease. I guess it's true that it can get internalized and affect your body in so many ways, SMH. I immediately started massaging my scalp with some JBCO, I do see some hair starting to come back. I think I will start taking some of the vitamins that Curls of Joy talked about a couple weeks ago.

Last night, I did a braid out, of course this morning it was a little damp in some places, but it's just a little frizz and I like how it looks, I will post a pic below :)

To all the mothers out there, I want to wish you a Happy Mom's Day and enjoy your days to the fullest & God bless!!!

I did a little up do today!

Shrinkage is the worst!!

Happy Thursday to my fellow naturals!!

It's been a while since I've been able to post, been really busy for the past week or so. Getting my youngest daughter ready to go back to school in NYC! If anyone knows of some apartments that may be available in Brooklyn or Manhattan, but Manhattan is so expensive, ugh!! My oldest daughter informed me that she is trying to finish school in Miami, so it seems my nest will be empty sooner than expected, no complaints here though :)

So this is week four of Know Your Hair, Love Your Hair challenge! I'm glad that I finally understand the whole hair typing situation, the videos helped tremendously! It's also good to know that I have high porosity hair.
The past couple of days I've been styling my hair in some interesting styles. I've received quite a few compliments, but I've also gotten some looks like "WTH were you thinking"! I don't care, it's MY hair, LOL! Last night I decided to try out the CG method, I started once before, but since it's very time consuming, I decided to stop. Well, last night I did the finger combing, didn't use a comb once, although you can use a wide tooth comb. You're suppose to do your hair in sections, which is why it's so time consuming. My curls came out popping, but I have MAJOR SHRINKAGE :( I know it comes with the territory, especially w/ wash & go's. So, my plan is to continue w/ this method and see how it goes.

Well, that's all for now, I plan to start posting a little more often, really trying to get the hang of this blogging, any tips for me would be greatly appreciated!

Peace & Love :)

Week Three of "Know Your Hair, Love Your Hair Challenge!!

Happy Tuesday my fellow naturals!!

Like the saying goes, you are what you eat and that applies to your hair as well. Unfortunately, I've learned that the hard way when it comes to caring for natural hair. This second time around I'm a lot more patient and so eager to do the right thing so that I get great results. I want to start taking Vitamin B complex, just to see if it really helps with hair growth.

I had an awesome weekend with my family. My mom had a great time @ the photo session that's she's been wanting to do forever. She really loved her birthday gift! I tried a cute hairstyle that I got from iknowlee (she is such a cutie, love her to pieces)! I received quite a few compliments from family and strangers :)

Here are a few pics from the shoot we did over the weekend! Hope everyone has a fantastic week! God bless!

Week two of "Know Your Hair, Love Your Hair" Challenge

Good afternoon my fellow naturals!

We're in week two of the hair challenge, and I found that Kimmaytube & LaBellaNatural's videos were VERY informative. I have been so busy in the last couple of days, that I didn't have any time to post. Really hoping everyone is having a great week thus far. I am subscribed to so many YouTube vloggers and Bloggers, but all of them have so much great information to share, it's kind of addictive, So, while watching one of iknowlee's videos, this one was a review of SunShine's Natural & Loving It, checked out her page and loved her products. I already ordered & received my shirt that I ordered from her, posting a picture soon.

Today's hairstyle is a curly fro, not too excited about it, but not disappointed either. Need to finish up my project I'm working on. Have a beautiful evening!

Good afternoon to my fellow naturals!
Hope everyone is having a good day so far, mine has been very uneventful. Not too busy @ the office, but I'm quite sure I'll be busy at my part-time this evening. My sister's & I (actually it's my youngest daughter's idea, love you MoNieshia) are trying to plan a huge surprise for my mother for mother's day. The problem is, she is so nosy I'm not quite sure how we're going to pull it off. Hopefully it will be a success :)
Well, I'm happy w/ my hair today, I did a twist out, but I tried smaller twists. I noticed a little hair coming out as I was twisting my hair. Basically, I tried to do a different method, w/o spraying w/ my water as usual. I just used the Shea moisture curling enhancing smoothie (BIG MISTAKE). After I brushed my hair with my denman brush, I noticed as I was twisting, my  hair was coming out!!!! YIKES!! I immediately sprayed my hair with my water and used the shea moisture and I immediately noticed a difference. I see my hair doesn't like that dry detangling method.
Here is my picture of today's style!

Happy Twist-Out!

Happy Friday people!!

Hope everyone's morning is going great for you. Today is another fun-filled day for me, busy day @ the office and then off to the part-time for more training. Not complaining, because I know I'm blessed. Got home earlier than usual last night, so I decided to do a twist out, I co-washed first, then used my leave-in conditioner, along with other hair products and started twisting. Loving my twist-out, I guess I'm getting better at it :)

Well, I'm out of here, need to get some things done before the day is over. Be blessed!

Second day Afro Puff

Good morning my fellow naturals!!

Today is going to be a long day for me, but I'm not complaining. Last night when I finally got home I was too tired to twist my hair, I decided to put my satin bonnet on and just hope for the best. I woke up to good results, the puff was a little smashed, but I just sprayed some H20 on it and it was refreshed. I do have a little frizz going on, but I'm happy that I still have some curl definition going on.

A few weeks ago I planned on doing just wash & go's, because my hair is in that weird in-between stage. It's just long enough for me to do two strand twists, but I wasn't getting the curl definition that I wanted. I did have some growth since I did the BC back in June of 2011, but I have horrible shrinkage. Since last Saturday, my hair has been looking great in the twist outs that I do. So far, I'm really happy about that. Going to post a few pics :)

Looking forward to receiving more new information in the following weeks of this "Know Your Hair, Love Your Hair" Challenge. I'm happy with my natural hair journey so, but there is ALWAYS room for improvement. Hope everyone has a blessed day!

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

Hello everyone!! Hope you all are having a beautiful & blessed Wednesday!

Yesterday was a busy day, but it was a good day! In my area we had are Primary Elections yesterday, I'm an election judge, so our day was very slow. Primaries are usually kind of slow, not many came out to vote! I'm truly hoping everyone makes there way to the polls in November!! Make your vote count, don't complain if you don't utilize your right!!

Enough about that :) Last night I put some flat twists in my hair, I really have trouble having the twists come out smooth. My hair is so thick and curly that it's really hard for me to separate the hair as I go down the flat twist.(any suggestions on what I can do)? As a result, my hair came out horribly this morning when I took the twists out :(  Since I go into the office late today, I had some time to come up with another option. Since it was about that time, I co-washed my hair and put some leave in conditioner in, smoothed my hair up in the back & front and put my hair in a puff. I ended up putting in two strand twists. It wasn't thoroughly dry, so I was careful taking out the twists, so I wouldn't end up with a huge frizzy afro ;)

I'm happy w/ the results, lots of defined curls. I want to color my hair again, but I'm trying to hold off. This is how I'm gauging my hair growth, because I colored it last year when I did the big chop!

Here are my results of today's hairstyle :)

I'm ready for the challenge!!

For the last three days I've been using a different technique to keep up my hairstyles. I was all over YouTube as I always am, watching my favorite vloggers. I stumbled upon this combination of hair products. Didn't really believe it would work, but I did twist-outs for the past three days. I used Eco styler w/ olive oil and mixed together with some Shea moisture's curl enhancing smoothie. The results were great (IMO) :)

My curl definition was fantastic and it didn't leave my hair hard like it does, if I were to use the eco styler alone. At  my part-time job, I received about six compliments on how beautiful my hair was. Two of them were from men.

The kick-off has begun for the Know Your Hair, Love Your Hair Challenge! I see everyone is checking in. So excited about learning more techniques on caring for my hair. I've posted my goals and I'm looking forward to meeting new online naturals. Below is a pic of my hair today, a simple afro puff!

#JusticeForTrayvon

Well, I had a great day @ work today, very busy, but that always makes the day go by so much faster. Here in my area today we had a rally for Trayvon, not happy I couldn't make it, but I did wear my hoodie. I did flat twists in ky hair today, turned out nicely :)

I'm off to go & get some rest, I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow. Be blessed everyone!

Beautiful Day!

Good afternoon!

It's such a beautiful day outside today. Kind of a slow day for me today, thanking Him for my many blessings! Today I'm wearing my hair in a high afro puff! I think it's cute. This morning I co-washed it and put some Giovanni direct leave-in, sealed it w/ some oils. I tried a new method I just learned from watching a YouTube Vlogger, Mahagany Curls, I truly love her hair. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Here's my afro puff :)

Happy Thursday!!

Hey there every1!!

Thankful to wake another day! Not too happy with how my hair turned out this morning, I did a twist out, but because it was kind of damp out this morning, my hair now looks like a fro! :(  I guess I'm in the in-between stage, it's kind of too long (my TWA has kinda grown out) for a wash & go, but just a little too short to do great twist outs. Gonna attempt to do some flat twists tonight, the last time I did them I had great results! Either way, I'm not going to give up the fight!

Still counting down, three more days until the big kick-off for the Hair Challenge!! As I said before, looking forward to meeting other naturals and learning new techniques. Have a blessed & beautiful day!

Happy Hump Day!!

Morning to you all!

Thankful for another beautiful day, went back to work @ both jobs yesterday, I was informed that I will be promoted to another position. So thankful for the blessings in my life!

I really am a hair product junkie! I just ordered two different types of natural hair styling products, Lol! Last week I ordered two other types of products, I think I need help! :) Well, next Sunday is the kick-off of the hair challenge I'll be participating in. Looking forward to talking with other woman who may be going through the same things I'm going through in this natural hair journey. I guess that's all for now. Make it a fabulous day for yourselves!

:)

Motivated!

Good morning everyone!!!

I'm just loving life right about now. My first day back @ work from my much needed vacay! I truly enjoyed my time off, spent time w/ my daughters. Did some spring cleaning as well, re-arranged my room as well. I also signed up for the Curls of Joy challenge "Know YOUR Hair" "Love YOUR Hair", excited all over again about my hair. I'm happy about the choice I made to go natural (for the second time) loving each curl on my head, can't believe it's been nine months. I am happy that I have inspired my co-worker to go natural, she told me she almost gave in over the weekend to put another perm in her hair, I remember how hard it was for me.

Hope everyone has a blessed day/week! Hopefully I'll get better @ this blogging too :)

Too blessed to be stressed!

I'm so thankful for everything & everyone in my life! I had a great weekend, even with having to work. Spent a great night w/ family and friends. I tried a new technique {corkscrew twists} on my hair, turned out great night (IMO) ;)

I am kinda sad that I missed my only niece's birthday party today. She'll officially turn four on Tuesday. Excited about what this week will have in store... I'll be on vacation!!

Well, that's all for now.

Rewind!!

Happy Friday!!!

Had to re-start my blog, my previous one was not working for some reason... well, this is my second attempt @ blogging. I'll be talking about different things, hair, my life, etc... :)

So far, this year has been great for me, can't complain @ all because I'm breathing & both my daughter's are pursuing their dreams and finishing school. This is also my second attempt at going natural, it's been eight months since the big chop and I'm loving it! I'll be posting pics of my different styles that I try and I've come to realize that I'm a hair product junkie, which can be quite expensive ;)

Well, I have a busy weekend ahead of me, have a fabulous weekend!!
